There’s Been A Massive Cover Up!
How many times have we read that headline?
Often, it isn't the original scandal that gets people into the most trouble - it's the attempted cover-up.
We are all covering up for someone or something!
Some cover-ups are lies and some cover-ups are love.
It depends on who’s doing the covering and why.
Some cover-ups are motivated by self-interest;
- some cover-ups are motivated by selflessness.
Jesus has been covering up for me my whole life!
With His help I can cover-up for others.
I can cover-up the sins and offences committed against me with love,
but only with His help. I can’t do it without Him.
Proverbs 17:9: “Whoever covers an offense seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates close friends.”
We should be willing to forgive others sins against us.
Covering over offences is necessary to any relationship.
It is tempting, especially in an argument, to bring up all kinds of dirt and hurt from the past.
We get historical, which is worse than hysterical.
Love, however, keeps its mouth shut - difficult though it may be (1Cor.13.5).
Try as hard as you can to never bring past offences into an argument.
The one who has covered up all your sins wants you to grow in your love for others? First, know this, you cannot become the loving person He longs for you to be,
apart from growing in your relationship with Him.
This love relationship must be cultivated first and foremost.
Second, you must love those nearest to you.
“The light that shines furthest, shines brightest nearest home (C.T. Studd).”
This means that if you are married, you focus on your spouse.
If you have children, you prioritize your children.
You try to love your neighbours and co-workers.
Once you have accomplished this, you will be better able to love the world around you.
God has called us to love people.
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins
Together we can do a Massive Cover-Up!
So, let’s get cracking:)
