The Latest Royal Baby Has Arrived!
Megan (Duchess of Sussex) gave birth to the couple's first child (Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor) early on Monday. The baby is ‘very healthy,’ Harry (Duke of Sussex) told reporters later in the day, adding, "Mother and baby are doing incredibly well." "It's been the most amazing experience that I could ever possibly imagine," the giddy new father said. "How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension, but we're both absolutely thrilled."
This coming Sunday is Mothers Day. It’s a time to appreciate Mums. To quote the new ‘Dad’ (the most important title Harry has), "How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension…” Giving birth is beyond comprehension. The Prince has had, and will have, many amazing experiences, but even he ranks this as the most amazing he could ever possibly imagine.
We would like to wish all of our Mum’s a wonderful Mother’s Day. We thank God for all of you. What you do in birthing, nurturing and raising boys and girls into men and women is truly beyond comprehension. William Ross, in his famous poem, recognised that Mothers are in fact a pre-eminent force for change: “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle Is the Hand That Rules the World.”
What you do in raising boy and girls who love Jesus impacts this world and the next.
Speaking of significant days, have you ever missed one recently? Life has become so hectic that if it wasn’t for Facebook some folks would forget there own birthday? Last Sunday we all forgot it was, in fact, our first birthday! On Sunday the 6th of May 2018 the South Moreton Presbytery held a special Service at Coomera acknowledging the demise of Coomera Uniting and Uniting North Churches and the delivery of a new Church, Uniting North, Coomera.
The Coomera Uniting Church had its origins in the Methodist Church, established on this site in 1874, barely a decade after white settlement. The life and witness of that Congregation has been part of the fabric of this community for 144 years. Uniting North, Gold Coast began as the first church plant of Newlife UC at Pacific Pines in 2012. It graduated to become an independent Congregation in 2017, as a transitional step, emerging from its parent church in order to be ready for a new era.
I can’t believe that we missed this significant day. I am, however, encouraged by the fact that on our first birthday we were focusing on God’s vision and our mission. Over the last five months we have managed to sum up both vision and mission in three words ‘Faith, Hope and Love.’ To quote an old Japanese proverb: ‘Vision without action is a daydream; action without vision is a nightmare.’ How true! Fortunately we have a three-word action that accompanies our vision: Developing Emergent Leaders.
The creation of Uniting North, Coomera as a new Congregation one year ago began a new chapter in the story of our service and witness to Christ in our community. With gratitude for God’s faithfulness in the past, with hope for God’s provision for our future, and with certainty in the light of the Easter dawn which reveals a world being made new through the death and resurrection of Christ – we pursue God’s vision and our mission.
Happy First Birthday!
